Marty Cmejla to race the Darrington Woodworking Florida 500
January 28th, 2024 | 12:54 AM CT
It was announced earlier on January 28th that Marty Cmejla would race in the Darrington Woodworking Florida 500, an E-Ticket Event that will be broadcasted on the Idk Player YouTube Channel, February 9th at 8:00 PM ET. The race will be 200 laps long, for an accumulated 500 miles at Daytona International Speedway - Oval.
The event is sponsored by Darrington Woodworking, and the cash prize for winning the race is $100.00. Darrington Woodworking builds custom Woodworking projects both big and small. You design the wood, and they will build it. They are based in southern Utah.
Marty Cmejla was in the first third of drivers picked for the event. Cmejla was pinged by Jonathan Ramos in the Idk Player Discord at 7:59 PM CT for Cmejla to join a special call with Jonathan Ramos.
Ramos had a long conversation with Cmejla. He asked if Cmejla what schemes he would be willing to run. Cmejla said he owned the Chevy and Toyota, and he didn't care what manufacture or number. Eventually, they agreed on the #31 Cook Out Chevrolet. But, Will Schack ended up having the #31. So then they looked through Spire Motorsports schemes with Corey LaJoie and a SKOAL concept car. This would be agreed on - BUT it turns out Douglas Newbigging was already in the #7.
Eventually, Jon and Cmejla came to an agreement that Cmejla will drive the #3 Dale Earnhardt Goodwrench Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. "This was supposed to be Earnhardt's Goodwrech scheme when he was with RCR, but they decided to go with the black version because the GM logo pops more," is what Ramos told Cmejla when offering the ride.
"It is an honor to honor Dale Earnhardt by driving the #3. #3 has always been one of my racing numbers since I started sim-racing in 2013. I am looking forward to my first Superspeedway E-Ticket event," is what Cmejla had to say on the agreement.
Marty Cmejla raced in the previous 2 E-Ticket events:: The USA 500 and the DriveSmart California 500. Cmejla had an 11th place finish in the USA 500 and a 20th-place finish in the DriveSmart California 500, both very respectable finishes.

Marty Cmejla is known to be a pretty good Superspeedway driver, getting his first and only NR Night in America win at Atlanta Motor Speedway (on the Superspeedway configuration) with the Xfinity cars on November 28th, 2023. He usually runs up front. At Daytona with the COT to open the 2024 year of NR Night in America, Cmejla dominated leading 30 of 46 laps, but finished 5th after a late-race caution led to a strategy failure.
