UPDATE (2/25/2024 6:11 PM): Owner Jonathan Ramos deems Connell's scheme as "not fitting" of the throwback scheme rules likely due to our team fonts. Connell instead will drive a #24 Toyota Supra with US Air Force as the sponsor. In new announcement, Marty Cmejla announced for "mandated theme nights", our team policies can be bended. This article is now what was originally planned.
For NR Night in America on February 25th, a rare Sunday edition, Patrick Connell will be throwing it back to the golden age of the sport with a stunning Dale Earnhardt Jr.-inspired throwback scheme for his #67 Toyota Supra at Talladega Superspeedway. This classic Coca-Cola-themed livery isn't just a nostalgic nod to the past; it's a powerful symbol of Connell's determination and a potent reminder of what could be in store for him on race day. Peters' Boyz Texas BBQ will be the primary sponsor for tomorrow's NR Night in America Xfinity Talladega throwback night race.
The 1998 season was a landmark year for the Earnhardt family, with the legendary driver Dale Sr. securing his second Daytona 500 victory and narrowly missing out on his eighth championship title. Patrick, himself a driver known for his aggressive spirit and never-say-die attitude, hopes to channel some of the Intimidator's magic on the track tomorrow.
"This throwback scheme is more than just a cool paint job," Patrick shared with reporters earlier today. "It's a tribute to one of the greatest drivers ever and a reminder of what hard work and dedication can achieve. I'm feeling really good about our car and our chances this weekend, and I know this Earnhardt Jr. throwback is going to give me that extra boost of motivation."
Patrick Connell's scheme for the race
Adding another layer of intrigue to the race is the fact that team owner, Marty Cmejla, will be stepping out of the driver seat and into the spotter and crew chief stand for Connell. This unique move signifies Cmejla's unwavering support and belief in his driver, and it's sure to add an exciting dynamic to the race day experience. With a car that's proven to be a strong contender, a throwback scheme that oozes racing history, and the full backing of his team, Patrick has all the ingredients for a successful outing at Talladega.
So, tune in tomorrow on the Idk Player YouTube Channel at 7:00 PM CT and witness Patrick take a trip down memory lane. Will he be able to replicate the Earnhardts' success and bring home the checkered flag? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: this is a race you won't want to miss!
