We just made an article about how ASPHALT MEDIA was shutting down. Well, we are honored to announce that ASPHALT MEDIA will remain in some form in the iRacing community. You can read about why ASPHALT MEDIA shutdown from before here.
After some trials and tribulations, ASPHALT owner Robbie Devore decided to get rid of ASPHALT MEDIA and rebrand the community to acronym "RVSC". Eventually, after the community mourned losing their beloved racing series, Robbie was inspired to keep ASPHALT around. He came up with the idea to have RVSC as a broadcasting station, like FOX and NBC, with various avenus within RVSC for racing action.
These avenues would be the new Ohio Valley Dirt Late Model Sim Series, other NASCAR series, our own SimStock Series courtesy of MC Motorsports owned by Marty Cmejla, and then - ASPHALT MEDIA. ASPHALT MEDIA will continue with new commentators and a different producing group. Robbie Devore will have nothing to do with ASPHALT MEDIA, except that he is the Grand CEO of the series as it is just a branch of RSVC.
Since the announcement of this nothing has really gone through. Yesterday owner Robbie Devore said that if a broadcast crew can be esembled there will be racing tonight (Wednesday). Well, Anthony Savignano and Ryan Wayne have made it happen and ASPHALT MEDIA racing will return tonight with 3 ARCA races.
Since the shutdown announcement our team has had to suffer through the losses. We haven't been able to race since, we have barely posted on social media platforms, and it has been pretty stagnant around here. The only thing keeping our team afloat is our new SimStock iRacing Series.
That was before NR Night in America took place last night, March 18th. A ghost-town MC Motorsports got back to priority with Marty Cmejla getting a wild win at Michigan with the ARCA car, for his 3rd-career win. It marked the first win with Fox Valley Mosquito & Tick Control partnership and Cmejla's first NR Night win on a non-drafting track.
"It was cool to win that, especially with our new partner. And then for ASPHALT MEDIA to return with new opportunities the night after could be the beginning of a great new era for MC Motorsports," Marty Cmejla commented.
We look forward to what the future brings! We will continue to run cars in ASPHALT MEDIA for the forseeable future.
